ALOHA, my name is Karen and I was raised in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. I’ve been a postpartum nurse for 29 years, caring for both mothers and babies with a deep respect for mind and body wellness. These days, I’m sharing a different kind of healing here in Japan: the comforting, soulful flavors of Hawaiian home cooking, born from the rich blend of its multiethnic communities and shared with love across generations
My cooking lessons are rooted in the Aloha Spirit—a welcoming heart, helping hands, and plenty of smiles. No stress here—just good food, great conversation, and a chance to unwind.
My favorite restaurant is Helena’s Hawaiian Food, and the view that always soothes my soul is the ocean at Makapu‘u. A word that’s especially meaningful to me is “mahalo”—more than just “thank you,” it carries a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation that I try to bring into every class.
At home, we have two lovable golden doodles who nap quietly in their crate during class—no need to worry, they won’t interrupt our time together.
I hope we can share delicious food, warm stories, and lots of laughter. I’m truly looking forward to welcoming you to class!
Mahalo!
